Title: Sounds of Beauty

Artist: Georgina Poh Hui Shan

Description: “The painting is all about how is is a gift to be able to listen to your surroundings. I used mainly warm colours for the entire painting to bring out the joy and how you can actually be at peace just by listening with your ears. I had also used black painting to outline my work to help bring more focus to the ear. By looking at this painting, you should be able to feel a certain embrace in your heart.”

Title: The Shadow of the Night

Artist: Abigail Goh

Description: “The eyes and the body were to gain attention from the people looking at it. The animal’s eye is painted with bright yellow to bring out the feeling that it was able to see things at night and it is like a shadow looking at you if you were at the same place at night with it. The animal drawn here is not harmful. It is just a small animal that just learnt how to be independent. The eyes and body receive unwanted attention even though it is hiding at night. That’s why the painting is called “The Shadow of the Night”.

Title: Death at Sea

Artist: Siti Aqilah Bte Halil

Description: “This painting shows a surfer surfing at sea with huge fierce looking waves threatening to eat him. The sea has many shades of colour and many different stokes shows the current of the speed. The sky is dark which resembles that something bad is about to happen to the surfer. The red droplets at the side shows droplets of water coming from the wave and also the tear represents people crying, losing their lives. Overall it is a sad painting describing people wanting to have fun but just dying in the end.”

Title: A Couple’s Feeling (Embrace)

Artist: Jacqueline Stansilas

Description: “The drawing represents the life of couples. This inspired me to paint the background pink to represent the ‘love’ atmosphere. The reddish orangey circle represents the warm feelings that is being felt by the couple. The blue represents the globe-planet earth. The feeling that “it” is out of this world. I drew film strips flowing out to represent the movies being played in cinemas,as couples usually go to movies for dates. I realised that the shape of the globe looks like a cresent . The cresent represents night when it is the least busy part of the day. This allows some privacy.”
